Donald Trump's Approach Constitute a Danger to Our Social Fabric.

The internal and external strategies – including the challenge to the democratic process in the past to current moves and statements – erode both national and global legal frameworks. However, the issue goes deeper.

These actions threaten the very concept of a civilized world.

The moral purpose of any advanced culture is to prevent the dominant from preying upon and using the less powerful. Without this, we could find ourselves locked in a state of nature where only the fittest could survive.

This ideal lies at the center of the Declaration and Constitution. It’s also the core of the global system established after WWII supported by the United States, emphasizing international cooperation, democracy, fundamental freedoms, and the supremacy of law.

However, it is a delicate principle, easily violated by those who seek to abuse their influence. Upholding it demands that the those in charge have a sense of duty to abstain from seeking immediate gains, and that society demand responsibility if they don't.

Unfettered might does not equal right. It makes for instability, chaos, and war.

Each instance people or corporations or countries that are richer and more powerful prey upon those that are not, the fabric of society unravels. Should such behavior are not contained, the system fails. Allowing it to persist, the world can plunge into disorder and conflict. It has happened before.

Today, we live in a international landscape grown vastly more unequal. Authority and resources are increasingly centralized than in recent memory. This invites the elite to exploit the disadvantaged because they feel omnipotent.

The fortunes of certain ultra-wealthy individuals is staggering. The influence of global industrial giants extends over a vast portion of the world. Artificial intelligence is likely to further concentrate wealth and power further. The destructive power of the world's largest nations is unprecedented in the annals of time.

Supported by a compliant faction and a pliant high court, the executive office has been turned into the supreme and answerable-to-none entity of government in recent memory.

Put it all together and you perceive the threat.

An unbroken thread connects previous transgressions to current provocations. Each were founded upon the hubris of invincibility.

One observes a similar pattern in international affairs: in wars of aggression, in coercive diplomacy, and in the worldwide exploitation by industrial titans.

However, strength without restraint does not establish right. It fosters uncertainty, upended order, and armed conflict.

Historical evidence demonstrates that frameworks designed to check the influential also protect them. If these guardrails are removed, their relentless pursuit for increased control and resources in time lead to their downfall – taking down their corporations, nations, or empires. And pave the way for international catastrophe.

Such disregard for rules will haunt the nation and the world – and the very idea of civilization – for years to come.
